Number ?? Rebecca's Design in Socks a la Carte!!!

Okay, I didn't post this @ the beginning of the year because it was going in a book by SWTC ---- HOW COOL IS THAT?!! I'll tell ya.....WAY COOL!! EXTREMELY COOL!!! VERY EXCITING!!! I could go on and on!!
Okay, the design was originally called "Twist and Shout" but the girls of SWTC renamed it "Rebecca's Design" (that is so cool!). I can give you no details. But, I can tell you this....run, run to the nearest book store, yarn store, online retailer and get the book! It is extraordinary! You really need to check it out to understand!! The variety of socks is practically endless...SUCH FUN!
A fun knit....did I already say that?! Not only was I fortunate enough to have a pattern in this wonderful book....but, my sweet buds from SWTC, Jonelle and Kat, sent an autographed copy of Socks a la Carte to me!! I'M SO HONORED!! And, "Rebecca's Design" is right there: and: Yeah, I'm extremely EXCITED, HONORED, OVERWHELMED and HAPPY!!!

#35 (I think) Leaf Lace Shawl Photos

I forgot to take photos of the shawl....CAN U BELIEVE?!
My dear friend, Amy, for whom I made the shawl took these photos of Fiber Trends Leaf Lace Shawl for me!
I knit this shawl with 10-12 skeins of SWTC's Therapi yarn. A truly fun knit! LOL, I then blocked it for about a week, spritzing it often so that the edging would block properly and it did. I loved and so did my bud, Amy!

I love knitting for loved ones who truly appreciate it and she does!

2008 was a slow knitting year....several designs, though. Several picked up by SWTC, HOW COOL IS THAT?! Who knows....maybe 2009, too, one doesn't know what the Lord has in store for us!

Now.....I've got to start another blog for 2009.........

It's like this............................
just read ahead, I mean is this cool OR WHAT?! I can finalllllllly let the cat outta the bag.... as if the ENTIRE knitting community didn't know that SWTC is my FAVORITE yarn company when I said in earlier blog posts that "my fave yarn company" had opted for a design of mine....OF COURSE IT'S SWTC and I'm tickled PINK!!!!!

I am happy and honored to tell you that "Hearts of Faith Scarf" design
is now available from the one and only SWTC
and is found on Ravelry, a button click away!

Click this little red linky:
for the info.

This scarf was knit with one of SWTC's newest yarns, Tranquility, 70% of the finest wool & 30% of lush bamboo - an extaordinary mixture and an absolute pleasure to knit with!

Oh yeah, I knit 2 of these, this is the other one:

I knit it with KnitPicks' Andean Silk, a lovely yarn - this was the test scarf!
Happy Knitting and God Bless!

Projects 25-28

I can give no details, but these are the 4 projects that were picked up by my FAVORITE yarn company!
I'm absolutely tickled pink that they chose some of my designs!!! HOW EXCITING! I had to then knit them with the yarn company's yarns, so...I had to knit the last 4 projects yet again....BUT IT WAS SO COOL because I used yarns that are, what shall I say.......hmmmm???!!.......SPECTACULAR!!!!
I'm headed back to the "drawing table"....rather graph paper and yarn, I'm finishing 3 versions of "A Touch of Whimsy Socks" - these will be offered on my blog for free ....stay tuned!

New Men's Socks (Projects 22-24)

Again, I'm WAY EXCITED to have not only designed 3 new pairs of socks (these were designed and knit for Lonnie's birthday!) but to have the sock designs picked up by my VERY FAVE YARN COMPANY! So, I played around in Photoshop Elements for fake photos - don't ya just luv 'em?! LOL!
Meanwhile, I can give ya a couple of hints about the socks - natch, they are all mens' sock patterns! 1 pair knit with TOFUtsies, cuff down, heel flap construction; another knit with Regia Bamboo, toe up, afterthought heel construction and the last was knit with Maizy sock yarn (a very soft yarn!). I'm currently knitting all 3 of them in 3 different yarns from MY FAVE YARN company and I've gotta say, knitting with these yummilicious yarns is making me knit slower than I normally do because it's just a delicious feeling - knitting with these yarns!!!
When the mysterious yarn co. makes the patterns available I will post the photos - CAN'T WAIT!

New Scarf Design (Project #21)

I'm so excited to not only have designed another scarf, but have the design picked up by my VERY FAVORITE yarn company! LOL, with that said I obviously can't show a photo of the real deal - that is the yarn company's privilege! But, I will GLADLY show off a photo of both this scarf (knit with KnitPicks Andean Silk, a nice yarn!) and the one I'm currently knitting with a LUSCIOUS yarn from the yarn company!
YIPPEE KIYAY, I'M CERTAINLY BLESSED!!

Stitch Markers (Projects 17-20)

Included in Colleen's Pay It Forward package were a few sets of stitch markers that I made. I used sterling silver findings and closed jump rings on all of the stitch markers. I've found that the closed jump rings prevent snagging on the yarn.
3 sets for needles up to size 9. One set with red & clear crystals: Another set with silver lined lampwork & misc. beads: And rainbow fluorite:
And my favorite (surprise, surprise!) are the sock (or lace) stitch markers! I used freshwater pearls and swarovski crystals:
I love stitch markers! Use them all of the time! Hope you like them, too, Colleen!!!

Bath Ensemble (Projects 12-16)

This bath ensemble was knit for another wonderful Pay It Forward angel, Jacquie. She, too, has been very, very understanding in that this 2nd part of her gift is very late due to various issues with my health - she is, of course, a DEAR & WONDERFUL friend!
Back to the ensemble - each piece was knit with Henry's Attic Alpine cotton & size needles...then washed numerous times to soften the cotton. This cotton can easily be dyed, but I chose to leave it the natural soft white color because Jacquie has neutral bathrooms.
The designs from the cloths (and accessories) are from a favorite cloth website that I found a couple of years ago, a French site which is (thankfully) translated into English: Knit Dishcloth Corner. The designs that I chose are among my favorite: Automn, Fiesta (from which I designed the headband), and my fave: Lily (from which I designed the backscrubber).

Eye Pillows (Projects 10 & 11)

2 Lace Eye Pillows (by Cat Bordhi) knit with Henry's Attic Alpine 100% Pima Cotton Yarn and size 6 needles. I then washed them 27 or so times (more or less ) - I must say, this yarn does soften a great deal with washing!
Sorry that I have no photos of the pillows, I'm afraid that my favorite camera is on its way to Sony for repairs (the flash stopped working!) - BUMMER but, I will post pics when my is back home!

Lana & Clark Ascot (Project 9)

Lana & Clark Ascot, free pattern from the one and only Vickie Howell. This was knit with Vickie Howell's GORGEOUS yarn from SWTC, Love (30% silk, 70% bamboo)...a dream to work with! Knit with size 7 needles.
This was knit for my dear friend, Colleen, one of my dear Pay It Forward angels...a very understanding friend because this 2nd part of her gift is FAR later than it should be due to health reasons! Not only that, of course...she's just an all around PEACH! A great girl, great friend!!

Whimsy Lace Kerchief (Project 8)

Whimsy Lace Kerchief knit with SWTC A-maizing yarn in the "grenadine" colorway and size 5 needles. This is one of the projects that I made for my sweet friend, Colleen, one of my OUTSTASNDING Pay It Forward angels...a very understanding friend because this 2nd part of her gift is FAR later than it should be due to health reasons! Not only that, of course...she's just an all around great friend!!

Harriet's Eyelet Lace Kerchief (Project 7)

This kerchief was knit with approx. 125 yards of Lionbrand cottonease, using size 7 needles. Wonderful when you have a busy day and don't want to "do" much with your hair, you can just tie this on and your hair looks great!
This, too, is a project that I made for my wonderful friend, Colleen, one of my OUTSTANDING Pay It Forward angels...a very understanding friend because this 2nd part of her gift is FAR later than it should be due to health reasons! Not only that, she just ROCKS as a friend!! Thanks for your understanding, my friend !!!

Rings of Sarah Socks (Project 6)

I designed and knit the Rings of Sarah Socks for one of my daughter's best friends who asked me if I would please knit a pair of socks for like I do for my daughter.
Who could say no to such a kind request, I ask you!! These were designed to fit her personality and they to to a T, if I say so myself, LOL!
These socks are great for leftover sock yarn! I had the most fun designing and knitting these! I can't wait for more solid color leftovers, I have many more ideas!
We often wonder what to do with leftover sock yarn...well, use the imagination, that's what we do and it's FUN!
Happy socknitting one and all!

Well, I can't mention what they are, but 3 secret projects have been done in 2008 and will be revealed later in the year.
While keeping track of my knitting projects for the year these must be mentioned.

Hope Scarf (Project 2)

I designed and knit the Hope Scarf for the Pay It Forward Exchange.
I gave this scarf to my dear PIF angel, Julie.
I knit it with Lamb's Pride Bulky yarn in a lovely lavendar color (periwinkle, I believe).
A couple of fellow knitters asked if I could make it a bit wider, so I added an addendum to the pattern, as you will see, so you can choose to knit Hope or Hope II - enjoy!
It's a fun knit, I can't wait to knit one for me and, of course the other accessories to go with!

Best Friend Socks (Project 1)

I designed the Best Friend Socks for one of my very best friends, Amy. These were part of her Christmas present, but I'm afraid I didn't get them to her on time because I had carpal tunnel syndrome and couldn't knit. She is so understanding, knowing that her gifts were going to be late...mine were early and man, did she ever spoil me!

I knit these using my FAVORIE TOFUtsies sock yarn!
